| MATCHANI GRAN is a quiet, child-free, rural hotel in a beautiful converted farmhouse. It has a large swimming pool, an outside bar and restaurant - FOR GUESTS AND THEIR FRIENDS ONLY - as well as an extremely interesting mini-museum which has a wonderful collection of Menorcan carriages, and old horse-drawn taxi-cab brought from Barcelona and a great number of antiquities. The hotel has a family atmosphere and is closed to the general public so no screaming kids in the pool and a jolly time at the bar. The hotel is an ideal base for walkers and bird-watchers with a kilometer long driveway leading to convenient parking. There are some donkeys on the land and the hotel s own grounds provide ample walking - wild olive trees and figs abound. The nearest village is SAN CLEMENTE - about 3 miles from Mahon with the South coast coves just a mile or so away. It is better to hire a car. The island has many beauty spots and well worth visiting. |
