| ES CASTELL has many shops and businesses which are spread all over the town, which, strangely, does not really have a town centre as such. The old square or EXPLANADA, was a military centre but never was comercial and has remained so since its construction in the 18th century. The town, originally named GEORGETOWN, after King George iii, grew up around the British military presence and so became sprawling, but picturesque, especially around the coastal parts such as Calas Fonts and Cala Corb. |
